PROVO, Utah (AP) -- When it comes to keeping school buses running Chris Wright is the best around.

Wright is the school bus technician for the Nebo School District and he took top honors representing Utah during a competition hosted by the National Association for Pupil Transportation.

There are 135 buses that travel more than 13,000 miles each day in the Nebo District.

The competition consists of a 50-question written test and a timed hands-on skills test diagnosing problems.

Before Wright left for the conference in Illinois his boss says he came in early and stayed late working on his buses, so he wouldn't cause a problem being gone.

Wright is the second Utahn in a row to take the top honors. Last year, a mechanic from Park City won the national competition.
