WEST JORDAN -- A seven-hour standoff comes to an end after a man with a gun barricaded himself inside his estranged family's home Saturday.
Police officers and SWAT teams were called to a home near 1800 West and 7000 South around 2 p.m. Saturday to reports of a man entering a home with a rifle.
Officers said that one of the sons grabbed the rifle and the family escaped unharmed, but the man remained inside the home with access to a nearby gun safe.
After hours of waiting, SWAT teams entered the home using tear gas. The man surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
"I'm still concerned for my son-in-law," said Sterling Parker. "He needs some kind of help. He needs it."
