Tonight will mark a very exciting moment for University of Utah baseball fans as they watch junior C.J. Cron get drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft.

With the MLB Draft set to begin tonight live at 7:00 p.m. EST, Cron will know what jersey he will be putting on in the Major Leagues, but it won't be the crimson red.

Although there is speculation, no official word has been said stating where Cron will end up, but Cron was made for the Major Leagues.

Cron has had quite the career with the Utes with a list of achievements that's quite long and began very early.

Not only does Cron come from a baseball family with his father as a manager in the Detroit Tigers organization, but his brother Kevin is a TCU commit.

Being drafted right out of high school by the Chicago White Sox in the eighth selection, 44th round, Cron chose to play for the University of Utah and has shined as a Ute ever since.

In his freshman year, Cron earned Freshman All-American honors from Baseball America, NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball. He also received the MWC Freshman of the Year honor.

His sophomore year as a Ute, Cron added to his achievements being named a first-team All-American by the NCBWA, Collegiate Baseball newspaper and Ping!Baseball. Cron also earned MWC Player of the Year and led the NCAA in RBI's per game with 1.65.

Finally, this last season, Collegiate Baseball newspaper again named Cron a first-team All-American, was again named the MWC Player of the Year and was selected preseason All-American by the NCBWA, College Baseball Lineup, Collegiate Baseball newspaper and Baseball America.

Cron will definitely be suiting up for the MLB, but he may not be the only one from a Utah school that will be drafted.

According to the MLB.com Draft Tracker, 23 Utah baseball players, including Cron, are possible draftees, but Cron is the only one listed with an enhanced scouting report on MLB.com.

Within the 23 Utah school players, two others are also listed on the Utes roster, senior Rick Anton and junior Joseph Pond.

From BYU, the MLB.com Draft Tracker lists four players: sophomore Taylor Cole, senior Matthew Neil, junior Marc Oslund and senior Alex Wolfe.

The other 16 Utah school players that make up the 23 listed possible draftees on the MLB.com Draft Tracker are from a handful of other colleges, universities and high schools.
