Children Claim Attempted Abduction in Park City

Lt. Rick Ryan, Park City Police Dept.: "He would certainly be a danger out there, and that's why we want to make contact with him."

Two nine-year old friends say a man approached them at a school bus stop, on Iron Horse.

Lt. Rick Ryan: "That's pretty bold. This was about 3:20 in the afternoon. He, in trying to talk to them said, 'Don't you remember me? I'm your uncle.'"

The kids tried to walk away, but the man became violent.

Lt. Rick Ryan: "The individual reached up and grabbed a hold of the young girl's ponytail, at which time she ran."

Police say that's when the man went after the girl's friend.

Lt. Rick Ryan: "And his allegation is he tried to run by the suspect, and the suspect raised his arm and tried to, he says, clothesline him and keep him there."

The boy ducked and the two ran home. What makes this story more disturbing is the kids say they've seen the man before.

Lt. Rick Ryan: "They said they'd seen him over the past couple of months. They said he'd followed them. They'd see him when they were on the bus."

The kids are students at Parley's Park Elementary School. They told a school counselor what happened. Five days later she reported it to police, who are now on the lookout for a suspect.

Lt. Rick Ryan: "We've surveilled the area for several days after it was reported to us."

Police are looking for a 45-year-old male, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. Police say he has a dark complexion and wears a baseball cap. The man was seen driving a small, yellow car with tinted windows. There is a decal of a blue dragon on the back window.

If you have any information, call Park City Police. They say, if anything like this happens to someone you know, report it immediately, because a delay can harm the investigation.
