Ashley Hayes & Tom Callan ReportingTwo people are charged with his murder and today 9-year-old Josue Contreras-Velasco was laid to rest at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
About 50 people gathered at the cemetery this morning to pay their respects to Josue. The service lasted about 45 minutes. Everyone gathered around the light blue casket to say goodbye, including his fourth-grade teacher Cheryl Yates. She said, "He was just a real bubble, he was always happy. He always had a smile on his face. He was willing to help me and anybody in the classroom. He knew everybody, he knew all the people in the kitchen, he knew all the helpers and he knew everybody in the school."
His mother, Gloria, spoke at the service between tears. She said, "I know wherever he's at he knows that I love him, because on Friday I had the time before he died to tell him I love him." She also addressed parents in attendance saying, "I just want to warn parents not to trust everyone with their children."
For the family, the murder is a double loss. Josue's cousin Miguel said, "I can't believe that their son was murdered, and now they want to take one to jail."
And Miguel also told us that the family is supporting the sister who is accused of his murder.
