BRIGHAM CITY -- An 18-wheel semi truck lost its brakes in Brigham City Friday afternoon, causing an accident with three other vehicles and sending contents of the truck spilling into the road.

The truck, which was carrying two trailers, was coming out of Sardine Canyon when it attempted to turn right onto Main Street. That's when the brakes malfunctioned and the truck tipped, crashing into two cars. The semi rolled and landed on top a third vehicle, and items from inside the trailers went spilling out into the intersection.

Despite the mess, no one in the accident was seriously injured. The two drivers of the first two vehicles sustained only minor injuries and the driver of the car pinned underneath the rolled semi was not injured. The driver of the semi was pinned in the cab and had to be extricated, but he did not suffer any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials say citations will be issued.
