PROVO — A man found shot in the head on his front porch has died from his injuries.

Provo police announced Tuesday afternoon that Andy Wendell Purcell, 32, died at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Police were called to 541 S. 300 East about 6 a.m. Monday after Purcell's mother found her son on the front porch on her way to work. Investigators believe he was shot where he was found and had been there for some time.

He suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. No weapon was found at the scene.

Police continued to work on the investigation Tuesday and were looking for the gunman, but they had no new information about the crime to release.
