SALT LAKE CITY -- Using her struggle with infertility as her platform, Tiffany Alleman, 30, from Sandy, was crowned Mrs. Utah in Hurricane on May 14.
Alleman and her husband Jonathan have two children now, and her platform, "Infertility, Pregnancy Loss, and the Gift of Motherhood," reflected Alleman's experience through parenthood.
During Alleman's participation in the evening gown competition, emcees Reba Rockett and Eric Dodge read a statement from Alleman's husband, part of which dealt with their experience.
"Suffering through miscarriages and infertility was difficult for us. The emotions and feelings were raw and difficult to deal with. I'm proud that Tiffany has used our challenges to bless the lives of others. Tiffany has the innate ability to make people feel secure, loved, and important."
Although Alleman wore the Mrs. Utah crown home, her fellow pageant participants brought a lot of talent to the table as well. According to the pageant director, Jen Watkins, it took two CPAs to guarantee the point tallying was correct.
Heading the competition was first runner-up Elizabeth Anderson, 36, a mother of four from Alpine. She owns Elizabeth Anderson Fitness, and describes herself as a "Sports Nutritionist, Fitness Competitor, and Fit Mom." Her company, as well as her platform, is about teaching women to love themselves from the inside out.
Following her, Draper resident Michelle Weeks, 43, took second-runner up. Her platform was centered on overcoming depression and low self-esteem through "The Art of Being Grateful." Weeks has six children.
Amanda Condie, from Toquerville, is preparing for the year-long deployment of her husband, Lt. Cory Condie and used her platform to help others with family members in the same situation prepare for deployment.
Resident of Apple Valley, Kristine Bennet, won Mrs. Congeniality and was presented a special award for "Most Inspirational." Bennet battles Parkinson's disease, is the mother of 10 children, and she and her husband are in the process of adopting two Ukranian sisters.
As part of Alleman's responsibilities, she will serve in her position as Mrs. Utah United States for the next year, and will compete at Mrs. United States in Las Vegas, the preliminaries of which begin July 31.
