(KSL News) Police are looking for two men they consider to be armed and dangerous after an attempted carjacking in South Salt Lake.

According to police, one of the suspects got into a red Jeep at 300 West and 2700 South, pointed a gun at the driver and demanded the keys. The driver resisted and was shot in the chest, abdomen and arm. He's now in critical condition.

The shooter apparently had an accomplice, and the two took off in a four-door sedan. The getaway car was found, but the carjackers are still on the run.

Police say they are particularly concerned because the suspects were so brazen. The carjacking happened in broad daylight on a busy street.

Witnesses gave police a vague description of the suspects.
