Antonio Lopez-Sepulveda, 25, was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, a weapons violation, possession of a stolen firearm and obstruction of justice.

Police believe Sepulveda shot a man driving on California Avenue Sunday afternoon. The victim, who works security at a local club, was shot in the chest. At last word, he was in stable condition. He was able to call his girlfriend on a cell phone after being shot.

Based on information collected by investigators, Sepulveda was located and arrested in Provo about 2 p.m. Monday, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Shawn Josephson. A gun was also recovered. Police believe it was the gun used in the shooting but tests were being conducted to confirm that, Josephson said.

According to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Isaac Atencio, it doesn't appear the shooting was gang related, but did say it was not random.

Detectives were looking for a tan or gold Jeep Cherokee at the time. That vehicle was recovered, he said.

Police did not release a possible motive for the shooting Tuesday or how the two men were acquainted.
