COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Two 40-year-old men from the Salt Lake City area have been found shot to death at a Columbus townhouse, and police said the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Police identified the men as Sean D. Stone and Jeff Barrier.
Stone, of West Jordan, had been living at the town house for several months, his wife, Lisa Stone, and brother said late Tuesday. The woman, who is still living in Utah, told the Columbus Dispatch that she was too upset to provide further information,.
Sean Stone's brother, Michael D. Stone of Utah, said Sean had been living alone at the town house.
"When I spoke to him just before Christmas he was all by himself," he said. "This is a shock."
The bodies were found shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday by some of Stone's co-workers, who were checking on him after he failed to show up for work, said Sgt. Eric Pilya. Police did not name the workplace.
The co-workers forced their way into the town house, prompting a neighbor to call police to report a break-in.
Pilya said it appeared the victims died within 24 hours of the discovery.
