Icy conditions contribute to a fall at a construction site. A man was injured in an industrial accident in South Salt Lake this morning.
It happened at the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility, a wastewater treatment plant. Crews were working on a concrete trench that is part of a major expansion. A 20-year old construction worker was going down into the trench on a scissor-lift. He slipped on a piece of ice and fell into a concrete channel.
Steve Foote: “He was complaining of neck pain, pelvic pain, head pain. And so a fall of that nature, we take measure necessary. We had to hoist him out of there. We had an aerial device that was on its way here, but it was actually quicker today to put him back on that scissor-lift he fell off of and get him up out of that hole and on his way to the hospital.”
The man was transported to LDS Hospital in serious condition.
Meantime, fire crews had some trouble when their truck got caught in mud there.
