CAMP WILLIAMS — The Utah Army National Guard's 1457th Engineer Battalion will conduct a change-of-command ceremony Saturday, March 19, at 9 a.m.

Lt. Col. Joseph K. Grimmett will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Scott K. Burnhope. Grimmett, a resident of South Jordan, has commanded the battalion since 2009.

He is a full-time employee of the Utah National Guard and currently serves as supervisor of base operations at Camp Williams. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving with the 115th Engineer Battalion in 2005-2006 in Kuwait and Iraq.

Burnhope, of Sandy, is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving with the 1457th Engineers 2003-2004 in Iraq. He currently works full time for the Utah National Guard as chief of maintenance and surface-maintenance manager.

During his 28-year military career, Burnhope has served as a commander, operations officer, logistics officer and platoon leader.

Burnhope will assume command of approximately 300 soldiers assigned to units in American Fork, Blanding, Mount Pleasant, Price, Salt Lake City, Spanish Fork, Springville and Vernal.
