LINDON — A BYU student who was believed to be missing was found in the Dry Canyon area Thursday evening.

Adam Trombley was "fine" when he was located by search officers around 8 p.m., Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez said.

"He actually just decided to stay the night up there," Martinez said. "After talking to him, he said he didn't want to be at home right now and decided to camp out."

The 20-year-old lives at home with his family in Orem. The man left home around 8 a.m. Wednesday and his family called after 10 hours passed and he failed to check in with them, which his father said was his usual practice.

Martinez said as many as two dozen officials participated in the search for Trombley.

"It was pretty extensive," he said. "We were concerned with the temperatures at night."

Martinez said that, on one hand, Trombley is a grown man who can do what he wants, but, on the other hand, "it's always nice to tell people so they know where you're at, so they don't have to call us."
