(KSL News) -- A smoke detector is getting credit for saving a family in a Murray home early this morning.
The fire started in the basement of the home, in a boy's room. It appears a candle had been left burning and started some furniture on fire.
The boy awoke to find his room filled with smoke and tried to put the fire out, burning his thumb in the process.
About that time, a smoke detector alerted family members upstairs.
The boy was treated for a minor burn. Everyone else was unhurt.
