TOOELE COUNTY -- A crash on I-80 killed a Salt Lake City man overnight.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a vehicle headed west on the road drifted over the center line and began to roll just after 12 a.m. Wednesday.

The car came to a rest blocking the eastbound lanes of the road, The driver, 25-year-old Mario Ramirez, was thrown from the vehicle about 70 feet. A passenger, 23-year-old Oscar Ramirez, remained in the vehicle.

Shortly after, the car was struck by another vehicle driven by Dennis Reed, 59, of West Jordan.

Reed was not injured, but Mario Ramirez was killed.

Troopers say alcohol and speed were contributing factors to the first crash.
