Class 4A Boys

Tuesday's First Round

At Weber State University

Upper Bracket

Ogden 53, Olympus 59 (2OT) Final

  • Despite missing potential game-winning buzzer beaters at the end of regulation and the overtime, the Titans came up with some huge rebounds in the second overtime and finally started making free throws to prevail in the first round of the 4A state tournament. After missing all three free throws in the first overtime, Olympus made 8 of 10 in the second overtime to pull away. Will Cannon led Olympus with 10 points and 18 rebounds, while Colton Stewart added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Woods Cross38, Snow Canyon 35 Final

  • Woods Cross hung to advance behind Ryan Anderson's 14 points and Austin Bankowski's 15 rebounds after Snow Canyon had two separate opportunities in the closing seconds to take the lead - missing two free throws, and committing a turnover in those two possessions.

Bountiful58, Timpview 52 Final

  • Bountiful shot 53 percent from the field and had three players score in double figures during a first-round upset victory over No. 1 Timpview. Dillon Salazar led the way with 17 points while Nick Willims chipped in with 16. Bountiful led by as many as 14 in the first half, but Timpview came all the way back to tie it in the second half. Timpview was led by Christian Covey's 20 points.

Springville60, Box Elder 45 Final

  • Nathan Israelsen scored 16 points and Neal Gardner and Bradley Kitchen each chipped in with 10 as the Red Devils outscored the Bees 35-23 in the second half to pull away for the first round win. Springville shot 51 percent form the field, while Box Elder struggle shooting 38 percent, and just 11 percent from 3-point range on 2-of-17 shooting.

Lower Bracket

Payson55, Timpanogos 52 Final

  • First round games are supposed to be easy right? Looking at the matchup between Payson and Timpanogos — it certainly appeared that way, well at least on paper. The Lions entered Saturday's game at Weber State with an 18-3 record while the Timberwolves stumbled in two games above .500. However, the Lions seemed to be stuck in the mud the entire afternoon en route to an ugly 55-52 win to advance to the quarterfinals in the 4A boys' playoffs.

Highland59, Mountain Crest 41 Final

  • With the game closer than expected, Highland turned on the boosters in the final quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 23-8 in the final period. Highland's Lew Evans, Nate Fakahafua and Sam Orchard scored 13 points apiece, while David Divver added 12 for the Rams.

Sky View67, Salem Hills 47 Final

  • Casey Oliverson had 18 points and six rebounds while Don Corbell pulled down 10 boards in the win for Sky View.

Lehi66, Dixie 46 Final

  • Colton College led the Pioneers with 25 points and 13 rebounds while Zach Stanley recorded seven points, four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals in the win. Ryan Callins had 20 points and five rebounds for Dixie.
