Alex Cabrero reporting A Hyrum woman came home Friday afternoon and found both her husband and son dead. She found them both in the garage.
Both 50-year-old Keith Dahle and his stepson, 21-year-old Jonathan Koeven, died from carbon monoxide poisoning. They were working on a pickup truck in the garage of their Hyrum home. Dahle had actually called his wife earlier in the morning, telling her he was planning on tinkering with the truck.
When Dahle’s wife came home, she found both of the men dead underneath the truck.
Sheriff’s Deputies say that while the truck was running, it was releasing carbon monoxide, and there was no ventilation.
Chief David Bennett, Cache County Sheriff's Office: "What a horrible time of year to have a tragedy like this happen. It’s just a horrible reminded to make sure you ventilate."
Family and friends are at the victim’s home, offering what support they can to the victim’s wife.
Sheriff’s Deputies say that if you are going to be working on a vehicle in the garage, to make sure you have ventilation somewhere in that garage. They also say having a carbon monoxide detector is a good idea.
