OGDEN -- A Utah Highway Patrol sergeant accused of punching a woman in the face during a traffic stop last year is no longer on the force.
A patrol car's dashcam captured video of Andrew Davenport punching the woman several times after stopping her in Ogden in August 2010. The woman was believed to have been drinking because of her erratic driving, but she was never charged with DUI.
At one point, the woman rammed a patrol car with her vehicle. In his report, Davenport said he feared for the public's safety and was only trying to prevent her from driving and hurting other people, including troopers.
A UHP spokesman wouldn't say whether Davenport quit or was fired. The spokesman also wouldn't disclose the result of an internal investigation into the incident.
