MURRAY -- The superintendent of the Murray School District announced Tuesday that he will retire in July.

Superintendent Richard Tranter took the position in 1998. He's been employed by the district for 33 years and was the principal at Murray High and Viewmont Elementary prior to taking the superintendent position.

The school board is conducting a search for a replacement through the Utah School Boards Association. Applications will be accepted through March 18, and the new superintendent will be announced in April. More information about the position can be found at www.usba.cc.
