GRAND CANYON, Ariz. — A 64-year-old St. George women, Janice Wotherspoon, died last week after a 600-foot fall at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, according to a Grand Canyon National Park news release.
At 4 p.m. on Feb. 9, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center was notified that Wotherspoon had separated from her husband near the Yavapai Geology Museum, the release states.
About an hour later, park ranges saw her body approximately 600 feet below the canyon's rim.
Her body was recovered the following day and identified Wednesday.
The National Park Service is investigating the fall.
