ST. GEORGE -- The owner of a restaurant in St. George faces tax evasion charges for allegedly failing to submit over $90,000 he collected from sales tax to the state.
The owner collected the taxes from customers between December 2008 and September 2010, according to a news release from the Utah State Tax Commission.
"He then fraudulently kept these trust funds for his own use without remitting them to the state for essential local and state public services," said Charlie Roberts, Tax Commission spokesman.

In connection with his business, he faces tax evasion, unlawful dealing of property by a fiduciary and pattern of unlawful activity, according to the news release.
The news release indicates that five-second degree and three-third degree felony charges have been filed against the man. He was arrested Friday in St. George.
If convicted, he could face a $5,000 fine and up t0 15 years in prison for each of the second degree felonies. The third degree felony charges could each carry a $5,000 fine and up to 5 years in prison.
