(KSL News) A Centerville police officer who shot and killed a man has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

The Davis County Attorney says Officer Paul Child did what he needed in order to protect himself from Steven Lane.

Earlier this month, officers entered Lane's home following reports of an assault and found Lane in a bedroom with a gun. They say he was shot after he refused to lower his weapon.

Lane's family claimed he was unarmed.
