PARK CITY -- One of the most recognizable celebrities in America turned up at the Sundance film festival Sunday. Elmo hit the red carpet with his puppeteer, Kevin Clash.
Clash has been the man behind the muppet for years. He is now the star of a new documentary titled "Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey."
The movie may be about the man, but the crowds come for Elmo.
"Elmo wants to go skiing," Elmo told the crowd of reporters. "Elmo doesn't have that far to fall," he joked.
Clash will certainly make sure of that. Growing up in Baltimore, Clash said he knew he wanted to live in the world of puppets. But not just anyone's world, it had to be Jim Henson's.
"He was the best, the best," Clash said, "very giving and respectful to every puppeteer."
Elmo entertained the crowd for a bit Sunday afternoon before the movie's premiere. He met with kids and reporters, and even posed for pictures.
