SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- After failing to appear at two consecutive court hearings, a woman charged with dumping her friend's body following her overdose death is now in police custody.
Salt Lake County Jail records show 18-year-old Macall Aubrey Peterson surrendered to authorities yesterday. After failing to appear at two consecutive court hearings, a bench warrant was issued last week for her arrest.
Peterson is accused of injecting 18-year-old Amelia Sorich with a mix of cocaine and heroine at a party in June that eventually killed her. Petersen and a 19-year-old man then allegedly dumped Sorich's body in the foothills above Bountiful.
Peterson faces several charges, including abuse of a dead body, obstruction of justice, drug possession and negligent homicide.
