OREM — The Orem City Council has appointed interim City Manager Bruce Chesnut to permanently fill the position.
"Bruce has great insight into Orem's needs both now and in the future," said Mayor Jerry Washburn. "He is a well-liked and respected leader, and we are very happy he has agreed to take on this new role."
Chesnut was appointed as Orem's interim city manager last October, following the death of longtime city manager Jim Reams. The council appointed him to the position permanently on Tuesday.
Chesnut graduated from Brigham Young University in management and finance. He has been working with the city of Orem since 1981. He formerly served as Public Works director.
