NEW YORK, Dec 14, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The Ramones' musical "Gabba Gabba Hey Hey" is moving from Perth, Australia, to the United States.

The show featuring music from the U.S. punk rock icons will be featured during the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, in March then start an Off-Broadway run in New York in May, Playbill reported Wednesday.

Michael Herrmann will head the U.S. team as writer/producer along with music director Tommy Ramone and arranger Nick Sheppard.

"Think Grease-on-speed and you're on the money -- albeit with a generous dollop of colorful Lower East Side characters," Hermann told Playbill.

The 70-minute show is described as a love story built around 18 Ramones' songs including "I Wanna Be Sedated," "Beat on the Brat," "Biltzkrieg Bop," "53rd & 3rd" and "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker."
