(KSL News) Several people in Layton are out of their homes tonight after a fire.

It started on the third floor of the Falcon Park Apartments on North Main Street. All 24 units were evacuated. Half of the units have smoke or water damage, one is destroyed.

The owner saw the apartment on fire. Her son was inside.

Bonnie Perez/ Fire victim: "I lost everything. I'm just glad everyone's okay and my son's safe."

The American Red Cross is helping the tenants. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A fire hydrant in the apartment complex was not working. It's being checked out, too. But crews say it did not hinder efforts to put out the fire.
