SALT LAKE CITY - A Utah Highway Patrol sergeant is speaking out about someone who fired a shot at two of his fellow troopers.
Sgt. Jeff Nigbur says on Wednesday night, a UHP trooper was pulled over on I-15 when he heard a gunshot shatter his back windshield. The trooper ducked and the shot missed him by several feet.
The highway patrol says this is the second time this year it has happened. In July, a trooper in Bountiful was on the side of the road in a construction zone when someone fired several shots at his vehicle.
"The odds are stacked against us," said Nigbur. "We are more likely to get killed in car crashes, so we really don't need this other element of people shooting at us while we're on the side of the road."
The highway patrol doesn't have any suspects in either shooting. They ask anyone with any information to please give them a call.
