ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- A 60-year-old man died of a heart attack while hiking a trail in Zion National Park. It was the third death in a week at the park.
Mark Ertischek, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, collapsed on the approach to the Angels Landing hike Saturday.
Park officials say a vacationing firefighter was the first on the scene and began to administer CPR. The man was never revived.
Two other people died in the park last week. Park officials say Barry Goldstein of St. Louis fell 1,000 feet off the trail of Angels Landing on Friday.
On Monday night, Keith Beidermann of Garden Grove, California, fell 285 feet in Heaps Canyon.
A park spokesman says it's the first time the park has had three deaths this close together.
