BLUFFDALE -- There was a strange twist Monday in a burglary and arson case in Bluffdale. Police now say homeowner Reed Anderson, 20, staged both crimes.

On Nov. 9, Anderson claimed someone broke into his home near 13800 South and Redwood Road and that he used a shovel to scare the intruder off.

The next day he called 911 to report someone had set his house on fire.

The family told investigators that Anderson has suffered from a series of pre-existing medical conditions, and they are currently looking for additional treatment for him.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office will decide if Anderson will be charged in the case.
