(KSL News) -- This holiday weekend is getting off to a fatal start.
One woman is dead following what officers are calling a "T-bone" type accident at 9800 south and the Bangerter Highway.

A 52-year old woman from West Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene after her car was broadsided.
Sgt. Allen Crist, South Jordan Police Dept.: "The victim was found in the passenger side of the car so we believe it was internal trauma. We don't know at this time whether she was wearing a seatbelt or was unrestrained."
Her name hasn't been released.
A 72-year old man and his grandson were in the other vehicle. Neither was seriously injured.
The investigation as to just how the accident happened is still underway.
