SALT LAKE CITY - Police say three men were stabbed in what may have been a fight over a woman at a downtown club early Sunday.

According to Salt Lake police Lt. Isaac Atencio, the three men got into an argument with another three-man group at a night club near 140 W. Pierpont Ave around 1:30 a.m. The confrontation was apparently over a woman at the club.

Police say the groups parted ways, but met up again at a different location on the same street. This time, things got violent.

"We had three individuals that were stabbed in that incident, and two of them were taken (to the hospital) in serious condition," Atencio said.

Atencio says the two victims' conditions were upgraded after undergoing surgery. The third victim was treated for minor injuries and released.

Police were able to track down the three suspects. "We did make three arrests in this particular incident," Atencio said.

Those suspects face possible gang-related aggravated assault and riot charges. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the stabbing victims will face charges for the initial fight.
