BOUNTIFUL -- A man accused of murdering his mother will be forcibly medicated so he can stand trial for the crime.

Monday a judge ordered Jeremy Jacob Hauck be given medication to restore his sanity so that he can be tried for the 2006 murder of his mother Laura.

Since the time of the murder, Hauck has been in and out of the state hospital, diagnosed with a schizophrenic disorder and found incompetent to stand trial.

Defense attorneys say while they agree Hauck should be given some medication, they are unsure if it will make him able to understand the charges against him and aid in his own defense.
