Gunman escapes after robbing Draper shoe store

DRAPER -- Draper police are looking for a man who robbed a Payless ShoeSource store at gunpoint Monday night.

Police say just after 7 p.m., the man walked into the store at 183 E. 12300 South and grabbed a box of shoes off the shelf. He then approached the workers with a black handgun and demanded they fill the box with the cash in the register.

After getting the cash, the thief took off on foot.

The suspect is described as being in his late 30s with blond hair. Witnesses say he was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, gray hat and blue jeans.
