SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake County Democratic Party has filed a petition asking the Utah Supreme Court to force county political parties to file financial disclosure reports.
The party filed a petition with the court on Thursday.
The petition comes in response to numerous Republican county parties failing to file financial disclosure reports. The Utah lieutenant governor's office has taken no action against those parties because it contends the state's financial-disclosure laws make it unclear whether county political parties are required to file the reports.
The petition says the lieutenant governor's office is failing to enforce the law.
