SALT LAKE CITY -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the Smith's Food and Drug grocery store chain wants you to "think pink" when you buy groceries.

As part of Smith's Giving Hope a Hand program, more than 1,800 items are available in special pink packages. Products range from Yoplait yogurt to Totino's pizza.
Part of the proceeds from the pink items will generate $147,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure chapters and the American Cancer Society in the western United States.
A Utah breast cancer survivor joined the grocery store chain Thursday to help spread the message.
"To you ladies out there who might be going through this or similar experiences, just know that you can do it," Susan Thompson said.
She spoke at the unveiling event for a Betty Crocker muffin box with her picture on the side. It will be distributed to more than 2,400 stores in 31 states.
Thomson is also featured on an interactive website which allows visitors to learn more about cancer and how to get help. For more information, visit www.sharingcourage.com
