CEDAR FORT, Utah (AP) -- Write-in candidate Howard Anderson defeated incumbent Mayor Jeanine Cook in Tuesday's municipal election that drew nearly 90 percent of the town's 181 registered voters.

Anderson, who got 56 percent of the vote, served as mayor from 1994 to 1998, then lost in the primary election to Cook, who has held the post since then.

"I'm looking forward to town meetings where we can get everyone together and find what everyone thinks is important," Anderson said. "We need to take stock of where we are and plan for some serious issues, like water development. That's the top priority here."
