HERAT, Afghanistan, Nov 6, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- An Afghani poet has died from a beating allegedly at the hands of her husband.
The BBC reports that police found Nadia Anjuman's body at the home she and her husband shared. Police said her husband admitted hitting her during a fight and that her head was cut.
Anjuman, 25, was a student at Herat University and had recently published her first book of poems. Her work was popular in both Afghanistan and Iran.
The Pajhwok News Agency reported that Anjuman's family has refused to have her body autopsied.
