SOUTH JORDAN -- Police are asking for the public's help to track down whoever broke into several businesses in a South Jordan strip mall overnight.

They actually punched a hole through the wall to gain entry.

–Sgt. Eric Anderson

Thieves broke into Sherwin Williams, UPS, and Envy Sun -- all on the corner of Bangerter Highway and 10400 South -- just before 11 p.m. Sunday.

Police responded to the stores because of an alarm drop at Envy Sun. When they arrived, they found the front door had been smashed in. They also discovered two other stores had been broken into. Several things had been stolen, including some cash.

Sgt. Eric Anderson with the South Jordan Police Department says, "They just kept prying doors on businesses. A wall was breached from Sherwin Williams to UPS. They actually punched a hole through the wall to gain entry."

Police are looking for an older model yellow or tan Chevy El Camino with a white shell. Police say a security guard was working in the strip mall and saw the vehicle leave with its lights off at about the time the businesses were burglarized.

Anderson says at least one of the businesses had working surveillance cameras. Police are reviewing the video, hoping to get a glimpse of the thief or thieves. Investigators ask that anyone with information about what happened or about the El Camino contact police.
