(KSL News) A 19-year-old woman is in stable condition just two nights after being shot in the back of the head.

Salt Lake City police say the woman and two friends were driving around town Friday, throwing water balloons. The three were driving on 700 East when someone in another car fired four rounds.

Detective Jared Wihonji with the Salt Lake Police Department says, "Unknown suspects fired four shots from a firearm at their vehicle. The 19-year-old female victim was struck in the back of the head and subsequently taken to an area hospital."

Authorities say the 19-year-old will probably go home Tuesday or Wednesday.

Witnesses report the shooter's car might have been a maroon Buick Regal. Anyone with information is asked to call (801) 799-3000.
