ODGEN, Utah (AP) -- Cameron Higgins threw four touchdown passes and freshman Shaun McClain kicked a 35-yard field goal in the fourth overtime to give Weber State a 50-47 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday night.
Higgins completed 33 of 54 passes for 340 yards to became the second player in Weber State history to pass for more than 10,000 yards. Mike Phillips caught 11 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats (1-1, 1-0 Big Sky), who won despite losing six fumbles.
Andre Harris rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears (1-1, 0-1).
Northern Colorado tied the game at 34-all in regulation on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Dylan Orms to Patrick Walker.
The game was delayed for approximately 15 minutes in the third overtime when the lights went out at Stewart Stadium. They were programmed to go out at 10 p.m. MST because of a planned postgame fireworks show.
Weber State trailed 47-41, and had the ball at Northern Colorado's 1-yard line when the field went dark. When the game resumed, Higgins threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Austin Raught on fourth down.
