(KSL News) A TRAX train smashed into a car Thursday afternoon at 500 South and 1100 East.
One of the passengers in the car, an 86-year-old man who was thrown from the car on impact, died at the hospital.
Two other passengers in the car were also injured but survived.
No one on the train was hurt. Police say the black Volkswagen tried to turn left in front of the train at an area clearly marked as a no-left-turn intersection.
