KSL Radio and TV pioneer Scott Clawson dies

SALT LAKE CITY -- Scott Clawson, a pioneer of KSL Radio and Television, has died at the age of 93.

After serving in World War II, Clawson started working for KSL Radio in 1946. He worked in radio sales, then helped found KSL TV in 1949.

Clawson hired longtime news anchor Dick Nourse and said it was one of the easiest decisions he ever made.

"I looked at him and hired him. It wasn't that hard," Clawson has said.

Clawson retired after 45 years with KSL.

A viewing is planned Thursday evening at Larkin Mortuary in downtown Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be noon Friday at the LDS 20th Ward in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake.
