Thousands of fans lined up Saturday morning to meet players and coaches from all 18 Ute varsity teams. Fans were also able to get a sneak peak at the new commemorative signs decorating Rice-Eccles Stadium in recognition of Utah's 2005 Fiesta Bowl and 2009 Sugar Bowl victories.
Utah men's Head Basketball Coach Jim Boylen thinks that its great for the team to see the passion and commitment of the fans. "I talk to our team about what it means to have 'Utah' across their chest. It means a lot to these people here, and that is who we are playing for," Coach Boylen said. "I think it raises their level of play."
On a side note, I asked Coach if he is ready to get back on the court, and he jokingly replied, "I was ready about three months ago."

Switching over to football, today's practice was in a normal Tuesday practice, with shoulder pads and helmets and shorts.
Looking specifically at Pitt, Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham expects a better team than what the Utes faced in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. "Other than the uniforms, it is all different. Without a doubt, they are better (than the last time we played them)," Coach Whittingham said after practice.
Again, I was impressed with the focus and intensity of the team throughout practice, something Coach Whittingham addressed the media about. "We have the right attitude, we have the right mentality and the right work ethic. Now it's a matter of going out the making the right plays Thursday night."
Regarding injuries, Whittingham said WR Sean Fitzgerald and OL Ron Tongaonevai both came out of 'The Pit' for practice, while starting LB J.J. WIlliams is "50-50 at best" to play Thursday. Backup running back Sausan Shakerin (concussion) will not play against Pitt.
The Utes will take tomorrow (Sunday) off before returning to the practice fields on Monday.
