(KSL News) The State Board of Education is considering longer school days or an extended school year as a way of dealing with the teacher shortage.

Public schools are expected to add 14,000 new students each year over the next decade. To keep up, 700 teachers would have to be added to the school system each year.

The board is considering a pilot program to test the idea.
