SALT LAKE CITY -- Police and firefighters evacuated a downtown Salt Lake City apartment building Wednesday night.

Four floors of the apartment building at 135 South and 300 East were evacuated when residents noticed a foul odor. The residents were out for several hours while investigators checked the building.

It turns out one of the residents had several open bottles of rubbing alcohol in his apartment. Police say the man suffers from mental illness and don't suspect foul play.
