Gene Kennedy reporting A simple noise complaint leads Salt Lake City Police to a significant drug bust at an apartment in the Liberty Park area.

Noise Complaint Leads to Large Drug Bust

Three suspects are in custody at this hour. They'll likely face drug charges.

The bust was apparently all the result of one neighbor calling police. First she heard noise coming from a neighboring apartment. Then saw three men running outside wearing ski masks.

Police arrived, expecting a burglary or some type of home invasion at 1700 S. 700 East.

But detectives noticed a strong odor, and that's when they discovered about 30 to 40 pounds of marijuana.

Police took three suspects into custody at the scene. All of them had outstanding warrants. We're looking into that this morning and what the charges against these suspects will be.

As for the drugs, police feel this was a significant find and it was all by sheer luck.
