(KSL News) Police in West Valley City had to deal with two high speed chases within a few hours overnight.

At about 1:00 this morning, an officer tried to pull over a car. The man inside drove off and turned off his car lights.
Police say the man was driving about 80 miles an hour down West Valley City roads. But after about five minutes, police caught him near 3150 S. 5600 West.
The suspect said he tried to run because he thought he had several warrants out for him. He only had one, a misdemeanor. Now he faces felony charges for trying to elude police.

And, a couple of suspects is in jail this morning after a different chase in West Valley.
An officer spotted a van, which had been stolen from South Salt Lake. When the officer tried to stop the van, the driver took off.

A short chase wound through the streets of West Valley, and ended about five minutes after it began. The driver was arrested at the scene.
The female passenger jumped and ran, but police caught her a few blocks away.
