(KSL News) A North Ogden Junior High teacher is Utah's "Teacher of the Year."
Joan Heap is a 13-year veteran who teaches language and has helped hundreds of students improve their reading skills.
Heap gets a thousand dollars and a trip to the national Teacher of the Year competition in Washington, where she'll meet President Bush.
Runners up are Orem Junior High science teacher Glen Duane Westbroek, and Shelly Condie, a fifth grade teacher at Salt Lake's Emerson Elementary School.
